All sessions at Mind Matters Health adhere to a strict confidentiality policy.
Client files are securely stored and only accessible to the client’s Therapist and, when necessary, Practice Manager.
Paper records are stored for seven years before being destroyed, unless otherwise requested by the client.
The only circumstances under which confidentiality may be breached is in case the therapist perceives the client to pose a risk of harming themselves or others, in which case the Therapist is bound by legislation to report this to the client’s advocate or relevant authorities such as a CAT team or the Victorian police.
Should this occur, the client or their advocate will be immediately notified. Likewise, duty of care regulations apply if any children are perceived to be at risk of harm by a client.
In such circumstances, SOCIT from the Victorian Police and the Child Protection Agency from the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing will be notified.
You will be informed about any decisions to report child protection concerns beforehand.
